MENOPAUSE CLASS™ • LESSON 06
Menopause Is More Than Hot Flashes
“This isn’t just about getting through menopause. It’s about how we want to age.”
Hot flashes may get most of the attention, but menopause is about much more than temperature control.
Midlife is an important time to take a closer look at bone health, cardiovascular risk, metabolic health, muscle and physical function, and sexual and urinary health—because the choices and conversations happening now can influence how you feel and function for decades to come.
Some of these changes are related to declining estrogen. Others are part of aging. And many are influenced by genetics, lifestyle, medical conditions, medications, and other individual factors.
That's why menopause care shouldn't stop once the hot flashes do.
In this lesson, we're zooming out from symptom management and looking at the bigger picture:
How do we protect our health as we age?
By the end of this lesson, you'll understand:
• Why menopause care should include long-term health, not just symptom relief
• What happens to bone health as estrogen declines
• Why osteoporosis and fracture prevention deserve attention before a fracture happens
• How cardiovascular risk changes with age and across the menopause transition
• Why blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and other cardiometabolic risk factors matter
• Why maintaining muscle, strength, balance, and mobility becomes increasingly important
• How menopause can continue to affect vaginal, urinary, and sexual health
• Why preventive screenings and routine healthcare still matter when you're feeling well
• How your personal history, family history, and individual risk factors help shape your prevention plan
• Why healthy aging is about function, independence, quality of life, and longevity—not simply living longer
Then I’d add our little pre-video callout:
We’re not trying to scare you about getting older. We’re learning what deserves our attention so we can be proactive about the years ahead.

📓 Before You Leave Class…
Open your Lesson 6 page in your Menopause Class™ Notes and do your Future-You Health Check.
Think about:
🦴 Bones: Do I know my osteoporosis risk factors, and do I know when I should discuss bone-density screening?
❤️ Heart & Metabolic Health: Do I know my blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose status, and relevant family history?
💪 Strength & Mobility: What am I currently doing to maintain muscle, strength, balance, and mobility?
🌸 Intimate Health: Are there vaginal, urinary, or sexual symptoms I've been ignoring because I assumed they were “just aging”?
🩺 Prevention: Am I up to date on the preventive screenings and routine healthcare recommended for me?
Then choose ONE area that deserves more attention and write down one question or action to take with your healthcare professional.
You don't have to overhaul your entire life today. We're identifying what deserves your attention.
